COMMUNITY
We’re Helping Put the “All” Back in Baseball
OVERVIEW
Baseball Is a Game for Everyone.
The Mariners believe our communities should be places where everyone can thrive. Serving our communities is a pillar not just for our community work, but for our business. Our social justice commitments are calls to action for us to advocate for and live these values on and off the field. Equitable access to baseball and softball is not guaranteed today, and the Mariners are committed to long term investment toward a vision for barrier-free access.
The partnership with EL1 Sports to create Mariners Training Centers is one step toward that vision.
We are doubling down our commitment to support all of our young athletes. Together, we will invest in our communities through facilities, programming and instructors – providing improved access and opportunities for recreational players, Little Leaguers, MLB RBI athletes, Mariners Care Foundation grantees, and select team players alike, regardless of socioeconomic background.
Mariners Training Center Community Initiatives
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES
RBI Coaches Training
These trainings are an opportunity for the dedicated volunteer coaches of RBI programs to hone skills and techniques from the professionally trained instructors of the Mariners Training Centers to enhance the experience of their RBI players, both in practices and games. Clinics include philosophies and techniques on skill development drills, practice planning structures, and positive teaching methods. The curriculum helps coaches to develop their players of all skill levels and gives them the tools and confidence to run efficient and effective practices, allowing for better engagement, a positive environment, and robust player-coach relationships.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES
Dedicated Facility Time
We know that not everyone can afford private lessons or team fees, but our community can’t afford for children to be left behind in their dreams of pursuing baseball and softball and enjoying all the benefits that team sports have to offer. We set aside dedicated time when our facilities are open and our instructors are available to those with a demonstrated financial need, at no cost.
COMMUNITY INITIATIVES
Camps & Clinics
In conjunction with Mariners Care Foundation, we will make spots in many of our camps and clinics available to those who cannot otherwise afford them at full cost. A commitment to access is an investment in a just, diverse, and inclusive game that will benefit ALL of the participants in these programs.
